Better world
We want to inspire everyone to create a better world for animals. They have rich emotional lives and unique personalities, and we want to celebrate every kind of animal. We’re looking for inspiring photographs of different species being treated with kindness – pictures that show what a better world for all animals looks like.
The brief
Photos in this category should try to picture animals living their best lives. They should be displaying their natural behaviours and showing what a better world could look like for animals. We want to see all kinds of animals, so you could capture a cow running happily in a field, fox cubs playing, or a pet rabbit with some bunny friends.
Getting started
We’d love to see examples of all species living good lives and being treated with kindness and respect – wildlife and farm animals as well as pets. It may be that your picture needs some explaining. Is it telling a story of how an animal has been treated kindly, or how a person has made a real difference to that animal’s life? Tell us in your photo description so we can see the full picture.
For example, you could photograph a hedgehog peeking out of a hole in a fence made to let him safely cross your garden. Maybe a cow lying under a shelter that a farmer made to protect her from the sun, or a person feeding an animal (e.g. birds on a feeder).
When you're out and about trying to get the perfect shot, don't ever put your safety at risk.
Entering the competition
Remember to include a description of your photo, in 80 words or fewer. Tell us where you took the photo, why you took it, and give any details you think are interesting or tell the photo's story.
