Venus' story

Venus was rescued from neglect, along with her puppies. While they soon found loving homes, she waited eight long months for someone to choose her. At our Southridge centre, she received the vital care, warmth, and patience she needed, and is finally learning to play again.

This Christmas, many dogs could face neglect, frightened and alone. Please donate today and help give another animal like Venus the safety, love and second chance they deserve.

THANKS TO SUPPORTERS LIKE YOU, THE RSPCA AND RSPCA BRANCHES REHOMED 25,566 ANIMALS IN ENGLAND AND WALES LAST YEAR.*

See the difference your donations make

Be part of something bigger this Christmas. With every donation, you join the team rescuing and treating the worst cases of neglect and abandonment. Meet some of the animals we've already saved from neglect, from sweet Staffy Nova to bonded siblings Dante and Beatrice.

It’s a miracle that Nova survived

Puppy Nova was close to dying when our rescuer found her: collapsed, barely breathing, on a dirty bed in a kitchen corner. We rushed her to a vet. A staff member at the practice said it was “The worst case” they had seen. But thanks to donations from people like you, Nova survived. She’s now adored by her new owner and loves to play on the beach.

A person gently holds the leg and head of Nova, a tan and white puppy lying on a textured rug.
Beatrice, a grey and white cat sits on a striped rug while Dante, a ginger and white cat approaches from behind.

Kittens Beatrice and Dante

Infested with fleas and an eye infection, these siblings needed our urgent help. Now they’re happy in a new home together.
A worried-looking brown and black dog rests their front paw in a person's outstretched hand inside a vet clinic.

Fendi: a gentle Malinois

We found Fendi chained up in a makeshift shed, scared of everyone she met. Now she’s the centre of her human’s world.
Molly, a white cat with black patches on their head, wears a clear plastic protective cone.

Adventurous Molly

Left to suffer a skin condition for weeks, Molly had visible wounds. After treatment and care, we found the perfect new home.

Reports of neglect rose 26% last year*

Right now, more animals are being abandoned without food or water, left to suffer in pain. Every 10 minutes we get another call about an abandoned animal**. As a charity, the RSPCA is independent of government. We rely on public donations to rescue animals in desperate need. Rescue efforts, vet treatments and everyday care – it’s all possible thanks to donors like you.
