Highlights from 2022

  • The cost-of-living crisis posed a huge threat to animal welfare, but our swift action and investment of £1.5 million allowed many animals to stay in good, loving homes.
  • When the war began in Ukraine, we helped reunite fleeing owners with their beloved pets – without transferring diseases to other animals.
  • Our first Animal Kindness Index confirmed that we are a nation of animal lovers: the public believe that animal welfare should be protected in law and taught in schools.
  • Working with other animal charities, we achieved real and lasting change for animals, such as the Sentience Act, a new law on cat microchipping and a ban on cruel glue traps.
