I was playing with my dog Rex. He’d been zooming around the garden and tired himself out, so he walked over to the nearest sunny spot and lay down. I love the smile on his face! He looks happy, calm and content. I carefully lay down in front of him so he wouldn’t move and focused on his nose and mouth. I didn't have to worry though – he stayed perfectly still for me.

I captured this photo while walking on a cold morning, drawn to the soft light and Lexi's carefree energy. It’s a reminder of how beautiful the simplest moments can be when dogs are just being themselves.

My rescue cat Emlyn loves to play outside. I took this unique action shot as he leapt up to catch a toy, before bounding after it. I used a wide-angle lens and positioned my camera at a low angle to capture the blue sky behind him.

Description

My favourite subject to photograph is my cat, Blue. He loves to perch on the bannister at the top of the stairs and stare out at the back garden. I like to think it helps him feel close to my mum’s bedroom and mine, but I think the truth is that it's a perfect sunbathing spot where he can watch the birds. I love this photo as his body looks relaxed but you can see his eyes are following something in typical cat style.

Description

I’d wanted a cat for ages before I got Aaya and I love her so much. She enjoys playing hide-and-seek as she's a curious cat. One day I caught a glimpse of fur in the dolls’ house and grabbed the nearest phone to take a picture, capturing her in one take. She reminds me of a nosy neighbour peering out their window! It’s amazing how she squeezed through that tiny door to find the perfect hiding place. She wouldn’t fit through now!

Description

I love all animals but especially horses, so when a herd of rescue ponies appeared in the paddock at the end of our road, I spent hours watching them. They seemed fearful at first, but became curious and would gallop up to say hello. This is Galaxy, who I captured mid-yawn. I love the wind lifting the mane and the single beam of sunlight catching the copper in Galaxy's forelock. To me, it seems as if Galaxy is screaming into the void, hence my title.

Description

I took this photo on the drive home from collecting my cockapoo puppy, Callie. When I saw her peeking through the zip, I knew I had to capture it. It also gave me the perfect name for the photo. She was peacefully resting during the drive, taking in the wonderful smells, while the sunlight streamed in, enhancing her beautiful fur. It made me smile, watching her dream away in her travel basket ready for all the adventures yet to come as my new dog.
