About
Love animals? Enjoy taking photographs? Then you're in the right place. Our amazing competition is open to anyone aged 18 or under. Help us create a kinder world for animals by sharing your inspiring images.
Please note, this year's competition is now closed. Next year's RSPCA Young Photographer Awards will open for entries in May 2025.
Animal photography is for everyone!
It doesn't matter whether you're an experienced photographer or a keen beginner, you've entered before or you're not sure where to start. Here at the RSPCA, we think animal photography should be for everyone.
Why? Because taking pictures of animals makes us notice how they live and their unique personalities. Looking through the lens of a camera or mobile phone helps us spot incredible wildlife. It can encourage us to see our pets in a whole new light.
Perhaps most importantly, sharing your beautiful photos of animals and the natural world helps others to appreciate them more too.
So what are you waiting for? To check out our wild and wonderful entries from last year, head to our gallery or view the 2023 Awards Brochure. You can even watch our 2023 ceremony, presented by TV's Chris Packham, below.

Chris Packham, one of our judges, says…
"I can't believe the RSPCA Young Photographer Awards is now in its 34th year! I'm proud to say I've been involved with the competition since it began back in 1990. As one of the team of judges, I never tire of looking at the images you send in. The thousands of entries we receive each year are always fresh, exciting and a true celebration of the animal kingdom.
All you need is a camera, smartphone or tablet to take pictures with, and a passion for animals. There are lots of different categories to enter so there's something for everyone. You can enter multiple categories and enter more than one photo in each category if you like.
Lots of past winners have gone on to careers in photography, animal welfare or conservation. This is a high-profile competition and winning images often make the front page of the newspapers! But it's also for everyone, so don't be shy about having a go.
All the finalists will be invited to our awards ceremony at the Tower of London in December, where I hand out prizes to category winners and announce the overall RSPCA Young Photographer of the Year 2024. Maybe I'll see you there?"
